Mandela Washington Fellowship
Khethiwe Mhlope was part of the 2019 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders cohort. This is the flagship program of the U.S. Government’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI). Khethiwe participated in a six-week Leadership Institute, studying Business, at Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey. During her time on campus, she connected with other African fellows from all over Africa and local U.S. communities and business people while sharing best practices.
After her time at Rutgers, she convened with 699 other African fellows for a multi-day Summit in Washington, D.C., where she forged connections with other fellows and U.S. leaders from the private, public, and non-profit sectors, setting the stage for long-term engagement between the United States and Africa.
